2007’s Tranformers managed to turn a children’s toy collection into a visceral and exciting summer blockbuster with ease. Following in its footsteps, Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen takes a darker tone and increases the scale and action of the original tenfold. Its video game counterpart attempts much the same feat, improving on the original title’s visuals and trying to match the film’s gritty and epic scale. Unlike its console equivalents, the Nintendo DS version on offer allows players to pick between either the Autobots or Decepticons in their own individual portable titles.

For the first time in a Transformers title, players now have the ability to build their own unique Transformer creations using a simple modular body system. Players are able to scan select objects during the game to unlock new parts and upgrade their character. Using the Nintendo DS’s local wireless connection players can challenge friends to head-to-head battles in Deathmatch mode.

This Decepticon version of the portable Transformers title gives players a unique perspective on the Transformers conflict while keep the scale and action firmly in place.
